Bakmi Abun

Bakmi Abun, Kelapa GadingBakmi means noodles, whereas Abun is a person’s name (Chinese nick name). So this restaurant offers Abun’s noodles. This is my mom’s favourite noodles when she was young (around 30 years ago). She really loves their wonton / dumpling (suikiaw) (see the pictures underneath). Their first branch is at Gang Kelinci, Pasar Baru street market, Jakarta Pusat. Every time I go with my mom to Pasar Baru, we always eat chicken noodles either here, bakmi Gang Kelinci, or Bakmi Sui Sen (https://goodmorningjakarta.wordpress.com/2012/08/29/bakmi-sui-sen-sui-sen-noodles/).

The tastes of all their food are great and I love the texture of their noodles. Don’t forget also to order their nasi goreng (fried rice). Bakmi and nasi goreng are the must ordered food in this restaurant and when you come to Jakarta πŸ˜‰

Apotek Century (drugstore)

Apotek CenturyPrevious post I talked about old-fashion drugstore (80’s-90’s), but this post is about a modern type of drugstore that popular on the last decade. It’s a franchise type of apothecary, clean, bright, self-service, professional, and simple. This one of the local brands of famous drugstore in Indonesia, esp. Jakarta.

Kwetiaw Sapi Akhun

This is a very small Chinese food restaurant around the corner, may be it’s only 4×6 meter. They only have few main dishes there, such as, fried kway teow, char kway teow, fried rice, fried noodles, and etc. The foods in the picture below are kway teow bun and fried rice. The taste of the foods actually are as great as other restaurant, but because the place is small, hot, noisy, (not clean) and very close to the street, all of these sensations make the foods taste more yummy πŸ™‚

I am not Β recommend you to eat street foods in Jakarta, if you just visit Jakarta for 2-3 days. You may have these kind of street foods after 1-2 weeks you arrive in Jakarta, to prevent any problem with your stomach. It depends on which street foods you visit and how clean are the foods in your country.

So, give your stomach a few days time to adjust with the real Indonesian street foods cuisine and I guarantee you will be highly addicted to it, enjoy Jakarta Β πŸ˜‰Β

Dental Health Centre (dental clinic / klinik gigi)

Looking for a dentist in Jakarta? Dental Health Centre is one of the best. I highly recommend this clinic for you. They have been established for 20 years. This clinic has a nice interior and many facilities for their patients, such as, many updated magazines, coffee vending machine, Nintendo Wii, and kids corner. All of these make this clinic so comfortable that you feel like home.

Their dentists and dental nurses are really kind, friendly, and professional. The price is reasonable. Sometimes, a group of kids from playgroups or primary schools visit this clinic with their teacher and parents, to make them familiar with dentist and dental education. If you visit Jakarta and want to enhance your smile, let’s visit this dental clinic πŸ˜‰

Bihun Bebek Aeng (Aeng’s duck rice noodles)

This is my first time eating Duck Rice Noodles. I thought the taste will be just like an ordinary food. But, I definitely WRONG !! It was SUPERB !!! AMAZING !! The taste was really great, may be this is because I underestimated the food before I tried. Yeaaah… I highly recommend you to try this, it is such a great rice noodle πŸ™‚ This is not a common type of vermicelli dishes served in Jakarta so it is quite difficult to find a restaurant selling this food.

Mie Ayam Abadi

Nasi goreng (fried rice), lo mie goreng (fried lo mie), and Hok kian lomie are the food that I always order when I come to this restaurant. I wish I can finish all these three dishes by myself only, but unfortunately my stomach cannot deal with these 😦

Besides the foods are really yummy, I also like the hospitality of the owner, which makes me really impressed. Even though he always sit in the corner of the restaurant, but he always make sure his customer satisfaction towards the service. At the end, he always say thank you for the customers who just finish and ready to leave the restaurant, “Kamsia ya Ko” or “Kamsia ya Ci” (Kamsia means thank you in Indonesian Chinese phrase).

It is just a simple thing but because it is come from the owner’s lips and his heart, it really makes the restaurant warm and hospitable and as a result, it will increase the customer loyalty, like me for instance, who spend at least 30 minutes writing down the dining experience in Abadi Restaurant and telling to the world about his small restaurant ^__^

Lastly, “kamsia” for reading my blog πŸ˜‰
