Bakmi means noodles, whereas Abun is a person’s name (Chinese nick name). So this restaurant offers Abun’s noodles. This is my mom’s favourite noodles when she was young (around 30 years ago). She really loves their wonton / dumpling (suikiaw) (see the pictures underneath). Their first branch is at Gang Kelinci, Pasar Baru street market, Jakarta Pusat. Every time I go with my mom to Pasar Baru, we always eat chicken noodles either here, bakmi Gang Kelinci, or Bakmi Sui Sen (https://goodmorningjakarta.wordpress.com/2012/08/29/bakmi-sui-sen-sui-sen-noodles/).
The tastes of all their food are great and I love the texture of their noodles. Don’t forget also to order their nasi goreng (fried rice). Bakmi and nasi goreng are the must ordered food in this restaurant and when you come to Jakarta 😉

This restaurant has established approx. 20 years ago. I often go here when I was in my primary school because my mother opened a shop in this old shopping mall, Metro Plaza, Pasar Baru. The taste is still awesome until now, my favourites are fried rice (nasi goreng) and chicken noodles (bakmi ayam) (see the pictures above). Nothing change significantly with the interior and the price is reasonable. This restaurant is all about memories in the past, so I really like to visit this restaurant when I am shopping around Pasar Baru. (Pasar baru is the name of a very famous street market in the past).

Nasi goreng (fried rice), lo mie goreng (fried lo mie), and Hok kian lomie are the food that I always order when I come to this restaurant. I wish I can finish all these three dishes by myself only, but unfortunately my stomach cannot deal with these 😦
Besides the foods are really yummy, I also like the hospitality of the owner, which makes me really impressed. Even though he always sit in the corner of the restaurant, but he always make sure his customer satisfaction towards the service. At the end, he always say thank you for the customers who just finish and ready to leave the restaurant, “Kamsia ya Ko” or “Kamsia ya Ci” (Kamsia means thank you in Indonesian Chinese phrase).
It is just a simple thing but because it is come from the owner’s lips and his heart, it really makes the restaurant warm and hospitable and as a result, it will increase the customer loyalty, like me for instance, who spend at least 30 minutes writing down the dining experience in Abadi Restaurant and telling to the world about his small restaurant ^__^

This is one of the famous Indonesian restaurant in Jakarta. The former name was Bakmi Gajah Mada; however, since a decade ago the name was changed into Bakmi GM due to the government’s policy. The government forbid this name because Gajah Mada is one of the respected figures in Indonesian history.
This restaurant started from a small stall and Chicken Noodles are their speciality. Year by year they started to open a restaurant which is located in Gajah Mada Street, that’s why I assumed from where their name came from.
Now, they open several branches just around Jakarta. Their menu is still simple and they don’t have many choices; however, almost all the foods are yummy. I recommended the fried rice (nasi goreng), chicken noodle (bakmi ayam), and fried dumpling (pangsit goreng). Lastly you should order it with the well-known unique Indonesian soft drink, which is Teh Botol Sosro (sweet jasmine tea) ;p~
This is one of the Indonesian restaurant that has a good branding; unfortunately, they haven’t franchised their restaurant yet.
