This is an Indonesian soft drink and it is really famous here, even Coca-cola cannot compete this soft drink in Indonesia. Actually there is nothing special about this beverage, it is just a sweetened jasmine tea in a bottle, that’s it. It was marketed first in 1969 at Senen area (market area), this soft drink initially just stay for only 1-2 weeks. At that time a bottle of coke is expensive and most of the people cannot afford it. Tehbotol or tea in a bottle (in English) offered a same packaging like coke and a colour looked like a coke with a cheaper price, thus most of the people chose this at that time.
To date, Coca-cola still cannot compete with this product and they have tried several time to produce a same product which is sweetened tea in a bottle, but still they cannot grab the market.
So, while you’re in Jakarta, you have to try Tehbotol with an ice cube or a cold Tehbotol, especially while eating Indonesian food. Die-die must try !!
Do you wanna try Indonesian foods? Come to this restaurant. They serve lots of local foods here, you can just choose foods that you wanna eat and then the kind waitress will serve the foods onto your table. Don’t forget to try the recommended Sambal or chili because Indonesian foods without chili are not truly Indonesian foods
Enjoy !!

This is a budget hotel located in the prime location in Jakarta famous street or CBD area, i.e. Sudirman Boulevard. Actually, this is not really a budget hotel because it is expensive, which is around USD 90 per night. I think it is expensive due to the its location, which is in the city centre. One of the good thing about this hotel is that there is a lifestyle mall in the first sixth floor. The name of the mall is fX Lifestyle X’ntre and I will discuss later in this blog

This is one of the traditional market in Jakarta. This video is an official video clip from a great Indie group band “Payung Teduh”. I really like their type of songs, which is very relaxing and peaceful as well as the vocalist has a quite unique voice. The video is took place at a market in Kebayoran Lama. Enjoy the video and the song

The Duck King is one of the most famous Chinese food restaurant in Jakarta. The foods served here have a great taste. However, the price is not cheap but it is still sensible

This is a type of snack usually found in the school. We called it otak-otak. I don’t know why they called it otak-otak, because otak means brain in fact this is not a brain, but it is a fish cake which we usually dip it in the hot peanut sauce Hmm… yummmyy… it is very cheap, it may be less than 50 pence
However, just be careful if you want to try the street foods in Jakarta. I suggest you to buy street foods only if you have been in Jakarta for couple of days, so your stomach will not get shock in the first week
Enjoy Jakarta street foods
“Nasi campur” means mixed rice or rice with mixed type of pork, such as roast pork, pork satay, pork ears, steam pork (siomay), fried pork (ngohiang) as well as eggs and slices of cucumber. It is also served with pork ribs soup. It is simply nice and you must try while you are in Jakarta
